Deepika Padukone, Bollywood’s highest earning woman, pulls out of a much-anticipated event in the Indian city of Hyderabad.
The glitzy ever, which will have Ivanka Trump and Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in attendance won’t be graced by Padukone as expected.
Her decision of not participation in the forthcoming event, follows a death threat directed to Padukone over her new movie, Padmavati.
Padmavati, tells the story of a legendary medieval queen, Padmini. Controversies started when members of the Rajput Karni Sena, raises alarm as they believed Padmini has been disrespected with the movie. The warrior caste group believed the activities in which the movie maker used in portraying Padmini is beneath her royal status.
Padukone declined her reason of absence at the forthcoming event, and it was unclear whether it was because of security concerns over the threat or whether she was unhappy over the government’s handling of the controversy.
