Michelle Obama is being recognized with a Grammy Award nomination for her 2018 best-selling memoir.
The former first lady snagged a nomination in the Spoken Word category for the audio version of her book, “Becoming,” when the Grammy contenders were announced Wednesday.
Obama, 55, will be up against an eclectic mix of authors and entertainers in the category, which includes poetry, audiobooks and storytelling. Among the other nominees in her category: the Beastie Boys, actor John Waters, poet Sekou Andrews, and musician Eric Alexandrakis.
It’s not the first time Michelle Obama has been nominated for the Recording Academy’s highest honor. In 2012, she received a nomination for the audiobook version of “American Grown,” her gardening and cookbook.
The ex-executive mansion occupant is also no stranger to the Grammy Award stage. She made a surprise appearance at the awards show in February, alongside host Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jennifer Lopez.
“From the Motown records I wore out on the Southside, to the ‘Who run the World’ songs that fueled me through this last decade, music has always helped me tell my story,” Obama told the audience.
The 62nd annual Grammy Awards airs Jan. 26 on CBS.
