WASHINGTON DC (FMG WIRE) – The DC Fashion Week 2023 witnessed a captivating display of luxury fabrics and impeccable craftsmanship, courtesy of Nigerian-American designer, the creative force behind Ibi By Yemi.
Her collection, known as the queen collections, was a remarkable blend of handmade custom garments that left the audience in awe.
Speaking passionately about her designs, Yemi emphasized her love for luxury fabrics, stating, “All these garments were handmade custom. I love sequins. Sequins and feathers are my thing. I love form-fitting garments. I love corsets, and I just feel like the queen collection is something new and exciting.”
The queen collection, according to Ibi, stands for women who are fearless and unapologetically themselves.
She added, “They are not shy. They like to make a statement when you’re wearing Ibi By Yemi; it’s always a statement, just empowering women. I like to see women in their best light possible and make them feel good about themselves in any shape or size.”
The founder who has been in the fashion industry for a decade and solo for the past three years, expressed her delight in showcasing her designs at DC Fashion Week 2023.
She revealed her ambitious plans for the future, sharing, “Next is Milan. I feel good. I feel great. I feel amazing. The big things catch me on TV. Beyoncé soon, introduce yourself.”
Born in Maryland to Nigerian parents, she proudly identifies as a Nigerian-American and has aspirations to bring her designs to Nigeria, a country close to her heart.
She encouraged aspiring designers with words of motivation, saying, “Believe in yourself; don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do it because you can do it.”
She turn to showcase her designs at DC Fashion Week was met with thunderous applause from the audience, who were captivated by her fantastic modeling style and the sheer creativity behind her garments.
